I didn't know I needed to see Babitz and Duchamp having a casual chess hang in the nude? (We may need the full story...) And those Dior minis!!!! Incredible.
Oh ROSE. This fanciful spelunking was just what I needed today. I recently bought a dollhouse made in the early 1900s by a butcher's daughter with REAL roof tiles and hardwood flooring, glass windows et al. Have you heard of the Stettheimer Dollhouse? It's on display and contains miniature works of famous artists of the 1920s.
YES!!! I mention it at the end of the post actually - it’s everything I ever dreamed of. Can you PLEASE!!! Take pics of your dollhouse and share?! Everything I ever dreamed!
Learned so much! Thanks for all the information and engaging text and pictures. It took me so much longer to read this wonderful post because I kept on looking up more information to further my knowledge of these miniatures. I loved the video of Duchamp's circus. Thanks!
Delicioso post. <3 we love duchamp...
What’s your favorite work of his?!
I love this painting, Nude descending a staircase. I can see the movement. :)

I might need it framed in my bathroom (feels like an aprop room for Duchamp)
I was totally enchanted by the Thorne Rooms in Chicago. Need to go back!
Omg thank you for introducing me to it - I’d love to see this in person one day. There needs to be a whole separate post on dollhouses too!!
I wanna see that fake cheese! another banger <3
Believe me I’ve been on a HUNT. The one thing I learned about Duchamp is that he is pretty bad at pics
lolz
new favorite rabbit hole unlocked 🐰🕳️
Tell me what else you find!!! Need our running list
Yesss! Another Tanaka fan :) I’m constantly impressed by how he incorporates trompe de l’oeil into his work! What a fun piece :)
It’s incredible!! Need to find more miniature artists to follow on the internet

Most definitely. Still working on the interior design but she has good bones xx
Love, love, loved reading this! If I was alive in that era and saw Duchamp walking with his valise, I would have probably fainted from my giant crush.
Thank you for the shoutout too. ☺️
I mean SAME!!! In his cheese salesman uniform😅up to no good as always
We have a lovely signed Calder print of one of his circus performers
That’s incredible - what’s your shop?
It’s my home !
Omg how divine - I’d love to see a pic!
I don’t normally like Duchamp but this one was fun.
Right? His artwork isn’t usually exactly for me but he is such a character
Rose, are you familiar with the tiny microknit works by Althea Chrome? I think you would enjoy! ☺️

She is incredible! How whimsical how magical🩵
This is such a delight! Also this is the kick I needed to finally make it out to the Maryhill Museum
Are you nearby?! It’s next on my list after Columbus Ohio (been dying to see the Eero Saarinen church there)
Yes, I’m in Portland. I’ve been past the museum a number of times on camping/roadtrips but haven’t found the time to stop.
You must go and report back! I’m so jealous you’re close
